Open Shore Competition Rules...
1. Competitors must obtain their weigh-in cards before commencing to fish. These
will be available in advance from local tackle shop or at the competition H.Q. on the
morning of the competition.
2. Fishing during the 90 minutes prior to the starting time will be considered a breach
of the rules. All starting and finishing times will be by the official clock.
3. Fish to be weighed must be handed to the appointed official together with
completed weigh-in card. Tackle, hooks, etc to be removed before handing in fish.
4. The minimum size of fish to be weighed in (cms) shall be: Skate & Rays 46, Bass 41, Eels 38,Cod, Coalfish, Pollack, Hake, Brill, Turbot & Witches 35, Flounders 30, Dabs 30.
All other fish must not be less than 30cms long. Measurement from nose to Tip of tail.
5. The following fish are not eligible for weigh-in: Wrasse, Rockling, Raysbream, Dragonets,
Blennies, Lumpsuckers & Sea Scorpions. All shellfish and crustaceans are barred.
6. Competitors must produce their weigh-in cards on demand by stewards or other
appointed officials. Baskets are open for inspection before and during the competition
by any steward or official.
7. Anglers must remove their debris and refuse at the end of the competition.
8. One spare rod with reel and running line with swivel is allowed, (only one rod
may have end tackle attached). Spare traces are allowed with not more than two
hooks attached. The use of beads, lures or any visual attraction on the hook
length is strictly barred. The rod, reel and running line may be exchanged for a
handline.
9. Any form of dangerous casting is barred.
10. Competitors may receive the help of any person to gaff, drop net or lift, but
everyone (including juniors) must bait up, cast, hook and play their own fish to the
waters edge.
11. Successful competitors will receive their prizes immediately after the weigh-in.
12. In the event of two or more competitors having the same weight, a coin will be
thrown to decide placing and choice of prize.
13. All prizes must be claimed producing a weighing in slip by the end of the
presentation.
14. Objections must be lodged with the committee during the weigh-in period or they
will not be entertained.
15. In the event of bad weather, the committee shall make such arrangements as
appear necessary.
16. Neither the NFSAS or the SSADSAC shall be held responsible for any matter or
thing that arises from any alterations of these rules or otherwise, or any damaged,
loss or injury however caused by any person in connection with this competition.
17. Any competitor committing a breach of these rules will be disqualified from this
event and be barred from receiving any prize offered in this competition.
18. OUT OF BOUNDS areas will be patrolled during this competition and any
competitor found in these areas will be disqualified.
19. The SSADSAC reserve the right to refuse any entry, and in such cases the entry
fee paid by anyone so rejected will be returned.
20. In all matters without exception relating to the Open Competition, the organising
committee’s decision will be final.
